Miracle December

This is the first of what I believe will no doubt be many more posts I will share about miracles that God is doing in my life and the lives of others. There’s been a few just this month, but I’m going to focus on one in particular because the topic is so closely tied to the way God is setting the captives free.

The story really begins 4 years ago when the border was first opened.

Surely none of us realized what that would mean or what was really happening. Since that time, we have seen millions of immigrants come across the border, a difficult and painful situation for many in our country that few could have conceived of.

As the years have unfolded, it has become clear to many of us close to the fight against trafficking that there are hundreds of thousands of immigrants that were brought here by the cartels. They were not brought here for a life of freedom. They were brought here as property to serve those that do not value them in any way, and have used them to satisfy their own sick pleasures.

In this time, I felt compelled by God to begin fighting back. Out of my own experiences came a deep desire to stand up on behalf of those who could not fight for themselves. His words to me were clear, “Every soul matters”.

Since that time I have lost count of the hundreds of hours I have spent working on behalf of this cause, although most of it silently behind the scenes.

But, something beautiful happened two months in a row.

In October, I was given an idea for a project. I was to collect blankets that could be provided to children who had been rescued out of sex slavery. Each blanket unique, just like them. Not simply for them to have a blanket, albeit a blanket of their own, which they may never have had before, but a blanket that would remind them of just how special they were to a God that knit them together, and wants them to know how dearly they are loved.

Toward the end of the month, I was driving through a nearby neighborhood and I spotted a sign market “Quilt Sale”. Immediately I felt I should stop. I had another errand to run but decided I would return later. I came just as they were about to close and the lady explained she had not sold many. I told her I’d love to buy one but needed to think about what type I would get and told her what they were for. After chatting for a few moments, she handed me 3 quilts and told me to come back in a few days. I was stunned and in tears, there were no words. A few days later she gave me 5 more.

The next two months consecutively, I received donations which came out of nowhere and simultaneously aligned with my prayers to accomplish other important projects and deliver resources to rescue homes.

As I type this post, I know this is just the beginning. I know I cannot imagine the miracles that are to come, or the way that God is going to do the very same things for those who have been brought over the border in the worst forms of modern slavery imaginable. I know that He is going to continue to pour out resources to ministries and there will continue to be precious moments when strangers and friends alike, unite together to create life changing experiences for those who need them the most. I know that while some may have come to this country for nefarious reasons, God is going to set things right and He is setting the captives free. It is up to us to continue to ask, believing that He can and will, and to do our part to help restore them to wholeness.

And, in this season, I pray that God will pour out blessings on you and your family as well. That as you sow into His kingdom, give of yourself for others and care for the widow and the orphan, that you too will come to know a new level of freedom you’ve never known.

Blessings to you and yours in this season of miracles,

P.S. Please shop our store and support our efforts this holiday, we would love to bless more kids with quilts!
