After weeks of hearing stories about the Diddy files and watching some of the most famous names in Hollywood implicated, it’s easy to see what the horrific realities of what the trafficking industry really look like. However, one piece that has been left out of the picture is what is fueling this industry outside of elite circles.
To understand what’s really behind the rise in trafficking, and it’s place among elites, Satanists and the cartels, you have to understand the multi billion dollar industry that keeps it alive.
At the bottom layer of this evil and twisted pyramid is one of the least suspected culprits and a tool that has long been used to objectify humans (primarily women to start, but now children as well) and strip them of their value. This insidious tool is porn.
Research shows that pornography can lead to emotional isolation, addiction-like behaviors, increased dissatisfaction in relationships, and normalization of objectification and aggression – all of which lies at the heart of this industry. These patterns distort perceptions of intimacy and contribute to anxiety, depression, and loneliness when combined with opportunities for power and money, become a destructive and sometimes deadly, combination.
Additionally, pornography production often intersects with trafficking, as trafficked individuals are coerced into creating content. Often that coercion comes with promises of a job, financial security, opportunities and the like, which are never fulfilled. Victims are often left with no way out as their very well being is threatened by traffickers if they attempt to escape the situation.
Fortunately, due to the recent exposure of celebrity traffickers, the industry is coming under increased scrutiny. As victims begin to speak out, the reality of the connection between porn and trafficking becomes more clear than ever.
Recently, several lawsuits have recently been filed against the adult entertainment industry, particularly targeting Pornhub and its parent company, MindGeek, over allegations of profiting from non-consensual content and sex trafficking:
- MindGeek’s Deferred Prosecution Agreement: In 2023, MindGeek admitted to receiving proceeds from sex trafficking, particularly related to the “GirlsDoPorn” case, where women were coerced into making videos under false pretenses. The company faced financial penalties and a three-year monitoring agreement. JusticeCourthouse News.
- Civil Lawsuit by 40 Victims: A group of 40 women sued Pornhub for hosting and monetizing content created by GirlsDoPorn, despite knowing the victims were coerced and trafficked. The videos reportedly generated millions of views and significant profits for MindGeek. Courthouse News.
- Class Action by 34 Women: Filed in California, this lawsuit accuses MindGeek of knowingly distributing videos involving non-consensual acts, minors, and trafficking victims. The case compares the company to a criminal enterprise under federal racketeering laws. NY1.
These cases highlight the systemic issues with allowing dissemination of pornography and the exploitation of victims in the adult entertainment industry.
This rising tide of opposition against the industry is gaining momentum as sites like Trafficking Hub begin to move to the forefront of the fight. Sites like these give voice to thousands of victims and opponents that have had little to no voice against the porn industry giants.
To put it into perspective, the porn industry is projected to grow to $96.2 billion by 2032, while the following industries fall far short of this extraordinary level of profit:
- Video Game Industry: Valued around $65 billion in the U.S. alone (2023).
- Music Industry: Global value at approximately $55 billion in 2023.
- Luxury Watch Market: Estimated at $54 billion globally in 2023.
- Global Pet Care Industry: Valued at $60 billion in 2022.
It’s clear to see that sex, rape, pedophilia and even torture is selling at an astronomical rate.
So, what can we do to stop these crimes against women and children?
There are a few things.
- First and foremost, we must start by educating ourselves. The more we understand about these issues, the more we can combat them.
- Connecting with organizations that are fighting it gives us the opportunity to make a difference directly. When we volunteer our time, social media attention or money to support them, we impact lives on an individual basis.
- Starting at home, we can talk to our children about porn, the consequences of engaging with it, and the risks associated with media and gaming platforms that promote it. Additionally, we need to address societal normalization of porn consumption which erodes the fabric of our humanity.
- We can become active in our local communities by following important legislation, vote for representatives that oppose sexual exploitation of minors and women and push for stricter laws against non-consensual content and trafficking.
- Additionally, we can participate in local fundraising events for anti-trafficking organizations and even partner with organizations to support their efforts.
- It’s critical that we spread the word about this topic and help encourage local leaders to be proactive in combatting trafficking in our local communities.
- Align with efforts like those of Trafficking Hub and sign petitions for legal accountability and change.
This is not an exhaustive list, but it’s a great start. It takes all of us doing our part to make a difference and every effort made to combat these horrific crimes is a step in the right direction.
